Promoting education is one of the missions of the DAR

One way we promote education is through scholarships to help students achieve a college degree with the following Colorado State Society sponsored scholarships:

Honorary State Regents’ American History Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Colorado high school senior in the top fifth of his or her graduating class (or home-schooled student) who plans to major in American History

Adult Advanced Education Scholarship
This scholarship is provided to further the education, in any field, to an adult whose education was interrupted for at least one year.

Virginia Leyda Roberts Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school.

Individuals who wish to apply for a scholarship must obtain a letter of sponsorship from a Colorado DAR chapter.

You must attend an accredited college or university and scholarships are paid directly to the school of the student’s choice upon registration for the upcoming academic year.

All awards are judged based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study (as required), and financial need.

Applicants must be United States’ citizens and Colorado residents.

Please do not submit a personal photograph as the scholarship is judged and awarded without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin and disability and all scholarship awards are determined by impartial committees of persons outside of DAR.

No person shall receive these awards more than once.All completed applications are due to the State Chairman by January 15 with awards made at the annual Colorado State Conference in April.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution also supports other scholarships. The scholarships vary in amount and number. As funds are available, scholarships are granted in the fields of nursing, optometry, speech pathology, occupational therapy, historic preservation, etc..
