Mount Rosa Chapter honors their member and the 2004 National Outstanding Junior
 of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Washington D.C.

Littleton, Colorado. – Donna M. Santistevan Elin of Englewood,Colorado, daughter of Joe and Donna Santistevan (current Colorado DAR State Regent), Centennial, has been selected as this year’s 2004 National Outstanding Junior of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This is the greatest honor a Junior Member can receive and the Colorado State Society, NSDAR has never before had an Outstanding Junior. This announcement was made at the Gala Awards night at the historic Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. near the White House.

Two non-DAR judges and a DAR Vice President General selected eight National Finalists from the state winners which the National Winner and National Runner-Up are recognized and announced at Continental Congress.  This year the judges were NSDAR Vice-President General, Susan Gonchar, Charles Edwards, and Beth Szescila, Antiques Roadshow appraiser.  

Mrs. Elin was judged on her years of service to the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as her community service and professional awards.  She was a volunteer probation officer for 7 years with the 18th Judicial District of Arapahoe County. She helped put together a mentoring program at her company; developed and maintains a childhood cancer website, and helped with the room adoption at Brandon’s Shelter in Denver.  

Donna is a graduate of Cherry Creek High School and of Metropolitan State College.  She joined Mount Rosa Chapter, NSDAR, Littleton, Colorado in 1986.  Donna served on the DAR local, state and national level.  She is married to Darren M. Elin and is a Learning Consultant for Sun Microsystems, Inc. 

Mount Rosa chapter members in attendance were Chapter Regent, Marilyn Metz, Charlotte Hubbs, Donna Santistevan (Donna's mother and current Colorado State Regent), Dorothy Kargo (Donna's grandmother), Jo Ann Santistevan (Donna's aunt), and Linda Remley.  Other attendees include Ann Dillon, Ann Andersen, Joan Wayne, and Anita Bishop along with 50 other Colorado Daughters.

The National Society of the DAR was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation's children. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the American Revolution.
