Membership

We welcome new members to our Chapter. We have many women from all walks of life whose ancestors participated, in some way, in the Revolutionary War. The DAR has chapters all over the world and our Denver Chapter is growing. Above is the new Denver logo, just recently shown to the public. See below for more. Below are some of the benefits of membership.

A chance to meet and make friends with other women who also are interested in our community, and our schools, by way of awards and scholarships. Visit the scholarship page to see all the various ones offered by the DAR.
Support our Constitution and our military, plus our patriotic values. Participate in the many patriotic events during the year, such as Veterans Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, and other local events.
Promote our American History; and preserve your own family history.

When you join the DAR, you are preserving your ancestor's memory and service forever. Once you have done this, families later on can use your application as a starting point, saving possibly years of research. DAR's library in Washington, D.C. has a huge inventory of genealogy records - books - family trees -and so much more.

An applicant for membership must be 18 years of age; prove her lineage and blood descent from an ancestor who fought or participated in the Revolution. She must submit documentation of all events such as marriage, birth, death, and a copy of the applicant's birth certificate is required. If you are interested in our organization, someone will help you with these documents.

Our meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month with 3 months of these being luncheon meetings. Meetings are not held during June, July, & August.

We have a Speaker at most meetings who come from different occupations and fills our minds with all sorts of Historic and civic information. Our Historian can meet with prospective members at the Denver Main Library to help find and put together their documents. For detailed information on Membership in the DAR, go to the National DAR website.

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper unveiled the logo (at the top) Wednesday afternoon at Civic Center Park. The big 'D' depicts the Denver skyline with a red building akin to the "cash register building," a purple Rocky Mountain backdrop and the sun -- a reminder of the 300 days of sunshine we get each year.
