SPECIAL PROJECT:
|
The Cache la Poudre Chapter NSDAR was founded April 18, 1908, and formally organized July 4, 1908. The story of our chapter's name is as follows: In 1836, an early snowstorm forced a band of trappers to hide
extra powder and supplies by a stream before trying to cross the mountains.
Returning in the spring to find their cache safe, they gratefully named the
stream Cache la Poudre. A granite marker was placed on August 1, 1910,
by the Cache la Poudre Chapter NSDAR to mark the naming of the river, the
chapter's namesake.
